Relationship Officers - Business Development

Role Overview

This position is responsible for building and expanding the Bank's Enterprise client base in the Machakos area. The Relationship Officer will spend time both in the office assessing credit applications and in the field cultivating client relationships, with a focus on increasing the Bank's liabilities, assets, non-funded income and cross-selling. This role directly contributes to the quality of the Bank's loan book and its reputation in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively source new Enterprise relationships and grow existing accounts through a consultative approach, pitching banking, treasury, and trade solutions that meet client needs.
• Review and recommend credit proposals, ensuring all applications are assessed quickly and accurately while maintaining a high-quality, low-risk loan portfolio.
• Monitor and manage portfolio-at-risk, identifying early signs of default and working with clients on restructuring or recovery plans as required.
• Deepen share of wallet with current clients by promoting product cross-selling, including deposits, working capital lines, and non-funded products such as guarantees and trade services.
• Ensure every customer interaction follows the Bank's service standards and compliance requirements, protecting the brand and minimizing operational risk.
• Compile and present credit submissions, renewal reviews, and business development reports to management in a clear, data-driven format.
• Build and maintain strong referral networks with local professionals, SMEs, and industry bodies to generate new business leads.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, economics, finance, or another relevant discipline.
• 1 to 2 years of professional experience in banking, business banking, or enterprise relationship management.
• Strong analytical ability and comfort working with financial statements, spreadsheets, and MS Office tools.
• High personal integrity with excellent networking, planning, and organisational skills.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication, with strong interpersonal skills and very close attention to detail.
