Role Overview
This role leads regional commercial execution for an airline, turning central revenue targets into concrete plans that work across multiple stations and market segments. Reporting to the Sales and Distribution Manager, the position blends hands-on business development with team leadership, overseeing daily sales activity while managing relationships with travel agents, corporate clients, and local partners. The work directly impacts passenger volumes, load factors, and market share, so the role demands sharp commercial instincts and the ability to maintain a consistent brand presence in every customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional sales plans that meet assigned revenue, passenger growth, and market share objectives, adapting tactics to each station’s local conditions.
- Drive new business by identifying high-value prospects, leading executive-level meetings, and managing a structured pipeline for key accounts.
- Guide regional marketing and promotional activities, coordinating campaigns, events, and sales activations to strengthen brand visibility and stimulate demand.
- Build long-term partnerships with travel agencies, corporate buyers, and other ecosystem players, ensuring mutually beneficial commercial arrangements and consistent customer conversion.
- Maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints, including sales offices, airport facilities, partner premises, and live events, so that customers receive a uniform experience.
- Conduct routine sales visits and targeted market engagements to retain existing accounts and win back lost or inactive business.
- Educate frontline teams on the airline’s product portfolio, enabling them to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities and maximise revenue per booking.
- Act as the primary escalation point for sales and ticketing teams, resolving operational or stakeholder issues quickly to minimise disruption and protect service continuity.
- Own regional budgets for sales activities and promotional spend, ensuring funds are used efficiently and in line with financial governance requirements.
- Supervise sales reconciliation and reporting, maintaining accurate records for finance and audit purposes while delivering market intelligence that informs enterprise strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, travel and tourism, hospitality, or a closely related discipline.
- At least four years of sales experience, with a minimum of two years leading a team and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Preference for candidates with professional experience in the aviation or travel industry, although strong commercial sales backgrounds in other sectors will be considered.
- Professional sales or marketing certifications are an advantage and demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, reconcile sales outcomes, and maintain transparent reporting processes.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold station teams accountable for performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities, particularly when engaging senior stakeholders and corporate clients.
- Analytical mindset with the capacity to interpret market data, monitor competitors, and translate customer insights into actionable commercial decisions.
