Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of a private security firm's manpower operations, combining recruiting, vetting, training, and post-deployment quality control into one hands-on role. On any given day, you will screen and verify applicants, run physical drills and classroom sessions aligned with PSRA standards, then track newly deployed guards through probation to confirm they perform safely and professionally in the field. Your work directly determines whether the company puts trustworthy, disciplined, and operationally ready officers in front of its clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and lead recruitment drives aimed at attracting suitable security guard candidates, including outreach that helps achieve balanced regional representation across deployment sites.
- Screen applicants against pre-set hiring criteria, then coordinate the full recruitment cycle from initial contact through to placement, keeping accurate and up-to-date candidate records along the way.
- Carry out rigorous vetting: verify the authenticity of National Identification documents, confirm each candidate holds a valid Certificate of Good Conduct, and check references and background details for any red flags.
- Document and escalate any discrepancies, suspicious documentation, or unresolved vetting concerns to the appropriate decision-makers before any offer is made.
- Deliver structured theoretical training and practical physical drills that prepare guards for real-world security duties, following PSRA guidelines and the company's own operating procedures.
- Assess individual and group performance during training, then recommend or deliver refresher training where skills, fitness, or knowledge gaps appear.
- Monitor guards throughout their probationary periods, evaluating on-the-job conduct, punctuality, reporting, and adherence to post orders, with clear feedback provided.
- Support discipline and employee engagement efforts by identifying performance issues early and working with supervisors to address them before they become systemic.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, or a closely related field; higher qualifications are an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in private security operations, NYS service, or a disciplined force, with direct exposure to personnel handling or training.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security operations, guard deployment procedures, and personnel management practices.
- Working knowledge of Kenyan labour and security laws, including PSRA regulatory requirements affecting training and vetting.
- Strong public speaking and instructional skills, with the ability to command a room and deliver clear, memorable training sessions.
- Proven conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities, especially in high-pressure or sensitive vetting situations.
- Physical fitness sufficient to lead practical drills, demonstration exercises, and fitness assessments for candidates and serving guards.
- Leadership maturity, attention to detail, and a track record of acting with professionalism and integrity when handling confidential candidate information.
