Role Overview
This position supports the people side of a hospitality-focused operation based in Nanyuki, acting as the first point of contact for staff queries and the behind-the-scenes organiser who keeps HR paperwork, records, and recruitment moving on schedule. Day to day, you will balance administrative accuracy with a genuine interest in how employees experience their work — from the moment they apply through their first weeks on the job and beyond. Getting this right matters because well-kept records and smooth onboarding directly protect both the business and the people it employs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities, including posting vacancies, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating outcomes to candidates.
- Run the onboarding process for new hires, preparing offer letters, contracts, and induction materials, and ensuring each new employee is properly set up from day one.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files in both physical and digital formats, tracking contracts, leave balances, and other personnel records.
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for employee questions about HR policies, entitlements, and procedures, escalating sensitive matters where appropriate.
- Support compliance-related tasks such as monitoring statutory requirements, preparing documentation for audits or inspections, and keeping policy records current.
- Assist with staff scheduling and attendance administration, coordinating with department heads to resolve discrepancies.
- Draft internal HR correspondence, memos, and reports, and prepare presentations or spreadsheets to support HR reporting.
- Handle employee information with discretion at all times, safeguarding confidential records and conversations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Between one and three years of hands-on experience in an HR or administrative role, ideally gained within a hospitality or service-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of core HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee record-keeping, and compliance.
- Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage several competing tasks and deadlines without losing attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to interact with employees at every level of the organisation.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated discretion and integrity when handling sensitive employee information.
- Willing and able to work in Nanyuki.
