Role Overview
You will act as the technical bridge between project teams and the bank’s broader enterprise strategy, turning business needs into clearly documented solution blueprints. On any given day you will draft architecture designs, evaluate integration options, and work alongside developers, analysts, and security officers to ensure what gets built matches what was approved. Your work matters because every system change or new technology introduced across the bank needs to be secure, cost-aware, and aligned with long-term architectural direction, not just a quick fix for one project.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce complete solution designs for assigned technology initiatives, including high-level and low-level architecture documents, integration specs, data flow diagrams, and records of key technical decisions.
- Compare alternative solution options against business constraints, risk tolerance, and total cost of ownership, then recommend the architecture best suited to the initiative.
- Validate that every proposed design follows the bank’s enterprise architecture framework and escalate any necessary deviations to the architecture lead before implementation proceeds.
- Work with business analysts to convert functional requirements into practical technical designs that developers and external system integrators can build without ambiguity.
- Participate in design reviews, architecture workshops, and project governance sessions, presenting solution options clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Check that security controls, data protection rules, and regulatory requirements are embedded in every design, coordinating with the information security team on formal architecture reviews.
- Assess the wider impact of proposed changes to existing systems and provide technical input for change approval submissions before anything is moved into production.
- Maintain architecture artefacts after project completion, updating documentation to reflect the real-world implementation and supporting continuous improvement of internal standards and templates.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience in solution architecture, systems design, or software development, with proven delivery in banking or financial services environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of integration design, APIs, and system interoperability, including experience producing clear architecture documentation such as HLDs, LLDs, and technical diagrams.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and hybrid deployment models, enabling you to design architectures that operate across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs, challenge assumptions, and explain technical concepts to project managers, analysts, and delivery teams.
- TOGAF Foundation certification, cloud architecture certification (AWS, Azure, or GCP Associate/Professional), or ITIL Foundation certification is a plus, though not mandatory.
