Senior Data Assistant

Role Overview

This role supports the accuracy, security and accessibility of clinical research data by entering study information, checking source records and keeping participant documentation well organised. It also provides day-to-day technical assistance at the research station, helping staff use data-entry equipment and maintain reliable access to study systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Enter information from Case Report Forms into electronic data capture systems, checking entries for completeness and accuracy.
• Compare recorded data with source documents, identify discrepancies and support their timely resolution.
• Maintain organised, clearly labelled and securely stored participant files and trial source documents.
• Keep CRF, study visit and query-resolution logs current and accurate.
• Locate and prepare study records for monitoring visits, sponsor audits and regulatory inspections.
• Track physical study files and help manage the archive room and related storage systems.
• Provide initial troubleshooting for station devices, including computers, tablets and scanners, as well as internet connectivity issues.
• Escalate technical problems to the Data/ICT Manager, follow up on support tickets and assist with routine checks of EDC equipment and peripherals.
• Handle research data in line with Good Clinical Practice, institutional procedures and applicable data protection guidance.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Computer Science, Health Records, Information Technology, Information Science or a related discipline.
• At least one year of experience in a clinical trial, research environment or equivalent setting.
• Practical database management skills, including data cleaning, query resolution and data normalisation.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Clear written communication skills, including the ability to prepare project reports, and strong interpersonal communication.
• Professional, ethical and accountable approach to work, with care for accuracy and integrity.
• Experience with an electronic data capture platform such as REDCap, OpenClinica, Castor or Medidata Rave is an advantage.
