Role Overview
As the College Principal, you will act as the senior academic and administrative authority at a well-established tertiary college in Embakasi, reporting directly to the Board of Management. Your day-to-day work involves steering TVET programme delivery, supervising teaching and support teams, safeguarding student welfare and discipline, and keeping the institution fully compliant with national education regulations. This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions shape institutional quality, reputation, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of academic, technical, and vocational curricula across all departments, ensuring alignment with TVET standards and learning outcomes.
- Conduct regular monitoring of classroom instruction, lesson quality, continuous assessment records, and end-of-term examination procedures.
- Manage daily administrative operations including student enrolment documentation, facility upkeep, timetabling, and efficient allocation of institutional resources.
- Develop, update, and enforce institutional policies, operational guidelines, and staff conduct standards in line with the Board’s directives.
- Lead, appraise, and mentor teaching trainers and administrative personnel, including workload distribution, departmental meetings, and continuous professional development.
- Maintain student discipline, monitor attendance, address learner concerns, and promote a safe, supportive campus culture alongside co-curricular and career guidance activities.
- Ensure full compliance with TVETA, Ministry of Education, and examination body requirements, including valid licences, statutory documentation, and accreditation records.
- Represent the college to parents, regulators, community stakeholders, and industry partners while driving student recruitment, course diversification, and strategic collaborations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, TVET Education, Educational Management, or a closely related field.
- A valid TVET trainer/instructor registration certificate or equivalent teaching licence.
- Demonstrated prior experience in classroom teaching combined with supervisory or principalship responsibilities in a college, vocational institute, or tertiary training environment.
- Candidates aged 40 years and above are preferred, reflecting the institutional maturity and leadership presence required for this position.
- Strong working knowledge of TVET academic governance, curriculum execution, and regulatory frameworks governing tertiary education in Kenya.
- Exceptional administrative, team motivation, conflict resolution, and student management capabilities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the institution publicly and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
