Job Description

Role Overview

As the College Principal, you will act as the senior academic and administrative authority at a well-established tertiary college in Embakasi, reporting directly to the Board of Management. Your day-to-day work involves steering TVET programme delivery, supervising teaching and support teams, safeguarding student welfare and discipline, and keeping the institution fully compliant with national education regulations. This is a hands-on leadership role where your decisions shape institutional quality, reputation, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of academic, technical, and vocational curricula across all departments, ensuring alignment with TVET standards and learning outcomes.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of classroom instruction, lesson quality, continuous assessment records, and end-of-term examination procedures.
  • Manage daily administrative operations including student enrolment documentation, facility upkeep, timetabling, and efficient allocation of institutional resources.
  • Develop, update, and enforce institutional policies, operational guidelines, and staff conduct standards in line with the Board’s directives.
  • Lead, appraise, and mentor teaching trainers and administrative personnel, including workload distribution, departmental meetings, and continuous professional development.
  • Maintain student discipline, monitor attendance, address learner concerns, and promote a safe, supportive campus culture alongside co-curricular and career guidance activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with TVETA, Ministry of Education, and examination body requirements, including valid licences, statutory documentation, and accreditation records.
  • Represent the college to parents, regulators, community stakeholders, and industry partners while driving student recruitment, course diversification, and strategic collaborations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, TVET Education, Educational Management, or a closely related field.
  • A valid TVET trainer/instructor registration certificate or equivalent teaching licence.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in classroom teaching combined with supervisory or principalship responsibilities in a college, vocational institute, or tertiary training environment.
  • Candidates aged 40 years and above are preferred, reflecting the institutional maturity and leadership presence required for this position.
  • Strong working knowledge of TVET academic governance, curriculum execution, and regulatory frameworks governing tertiary education in Kenya.
  • Exceptional administrative, team motivation, conflict resolution, and student management capabilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the institution publicly and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

What We Offer / Why Join

This full-time, on-site role is based in Embakasi, Nairobi, with a monthly remuneration of KSh 40,000. You will have the opportunity to lead an established tertiary college, influence TVET academic standards, and contribute to institutional growth while working closely with the Board of Management.
