Powder Coating Line Operator

Role Overview

As a Powder Coating Line Operator, you will prepare metal components, apply electrostatic powder coatings and oversee curing to produce parts that meet required finish standards. Your work helps maintain a reliable fabrication workflow by catching defects early, keeping equipment ready for production and reducing avoidable rework.

Key Responsibilities

• Run and monitor the coating line, keeping components moving through preparation, spraying and curing.
• Load, position and unload metal parts on the conveyor, using suitable handling methods for each component.
• Clean, degrease and mask surfaces, and carry out the required pre-treatment before coating.
• Set up spray guns and adjust application settings to suit component shapes, coating thickness and colour requirements.
• Monitor oven temperature and curing duration to achieve an even, durable finish.
• Inspect coated parts for coverage, colour consistency, thickness and surface flaws; address defects or report them for correction.
• Check and clean spray equipment, booths, nozzles, powder delivery and recovery systems, especially when changing colours.
• Follow safety procedures, wear required protective equipment and coordinate with colleagues to meet production needs while limiting powder waste.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Practical experience operating electrostatic powder-coating equipment in a metal fabrication or manufacturing setting.
• Working knowledge of metal surface preparation, powder application, oven curing and finished-part inspection.
• Ability to adjust spray equipment and troubleshoot issues such as uneven application or inconsistent coverage.
• Sound awareness of safe work practices around coating powders, production machinery and high-temperature ovens.
• Careful attention to detail when assessing finish quality, with clear communication and a cooperative approach to line work.
