Job Description

Position: Pharmaceutical Technologist (Pharm Tech)

Stations: Nairobi & Mombasa

Primary Objectives

The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible for the accurate dispensing of medications and providing expert guidance to patients on pharmaceutical use. This role involves meticulous inventory oversight, ensuring all drug management follows strict safety protocols and regulatory standards. We are looking for a licensed professional who combines technical accuracy with exceptional patient care to support our pharmacy operations in both Nairobi and Mombasa.

Functional Area Accountabilities

Clinical Dispensing & Patient Education

  • Accurately interpret medical prescriptions and dispense both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.

  • Deliver comprehensive counseling to patients regarding correct dosage, administration methods, and potential side effects.

  • Uphold rigorous dispensing standards to ensure patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.

Pharmaceutical Supply Chain & Inventory

  • Oversee and maintain optimal stock levels to prevent shortages of essential medicines.

  • Execute regular audits for drug expiry dates and ensure medications are stored under appropriate environmental conditions.

  • Document all stock movements and maintain a high-integrity inventory management system.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Alignment

  • Guarantee that all pharmacy operations strictly adhere to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations.

  • Maintain precise dispensing logs and patient records in compliance with legal and professional requirements.

  • Prepare for and facilitate internal audits or regulatory inspections as required.

Patient Relations & Support

  • Offer professional consultation to customers regarding pharmaceutical products and general health wellness.

  • Promptly resolve customer inquiries and provide a high standard of empathetic patient care.

  • Preserve absolute patient confidentiality and professional ethics in all interactions.

Skills & Experience Required

Professional Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.

  • Licensing: Must be currently registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience within a retail or hospital pharmacy environment.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of pharmacology, drug interactions, and dispensing best practices.

  • Precision: Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in measurement and documentation.
