Pellet Packing Supervisor

Role Overview

You will take charge of the day-to-day operation of the packing line at a plastic recycling facility, making sure every bag of pellets is filled, sealed, and labelled according to strict specifications. This is a hands-on supervisory role: you will both direct the packing crew and monitor the automatic packing line itself, balancing output targets with quality checks and inventory accuracy. Your work directly protects the facility's reputation, because if packaging or documentation is wrong, customers cannot use the product and the plant loses money.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete bagging process for plastic pellets, from hopper feed to final sealed bag, ensuring each bag meets weight and fill standards.
• Verify that every pallet and bag carries the correct label, lot number, and accompanying documentation before it moves to storage or dispatch.
• Conduct scheduled quality inspections of packed material, checking for contamination, discolouration, or packaging defects, and halt the line if issues are found.
• Direct and train packing staff on correct operating procedures, safe lifting techniques, and proper use of machinery.
• Build daily shift schedules and assign specific stations to team members based on workload and capability.
• Track inventory levels of packed stock, raw pellets, bags, and labels; perform cycle counts and reconcile any differences with the recycling manager.
• Investigate quality or documentation errors as they occur, document the root cause, and raise reports to the plant manager immediately.
• Monitor line speed, jams, and downtime on the automatic packing equipment, making adjustments or coordinating maintenance to keep production on target.
• Lead safety inspections on the packing floor, enforce PPE usage, and address any near-misses, hazards, or incidents without delay.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree, diploma, or certificate in logistics, supply chain management, operations, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on experience in packing operations, ideally within plastic recycling, polymer manufacturing, or a comparable industrial setting.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise a small team, including assigning tasks, training new staff, and maintaining discipline on the shop floor.
• Working knowledge of automatic packing machinery, including common fault-finding and the ability to adjust settings for bag size or pellet type.
• Strong attention to detail for checking labels, weights, and quality records against product specifications.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations in a factory environment, including hazard identification and incident reporting.
• Basic computer literacy for maintaining inventory logs, quality records, and shift reports.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and move between packing stations, storage areas, and the quality check bench.
