Job Description

Role Overview

You will manage the complete payroll lifecycle for employees and pensioners, from data entry and adjustments to final payment and reporting. This role ensures every payroll run is accurate, confidential, and fully compliant with company policies and local statutory requirements. By resolving queries and maintaining clean records, you directly support a reliable and trustworthy employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process all payroll and pension adjustments—including back pay, part pay, leave pay, overtime, and cost centre changes—ensuring every transaction has the required authorisation and is handled confidentially.
  • Calculate, deduct, and remit statutory payments such as PAYE, NSSF, and pension contributions, and prepare all year-end tax documentation on time.
  • Maintain a clear, complete audit trail for every payroll change, filing authorisation records promptly to minimise risk.
  • Prepare monthly and annual standard reports for internal stakeholders, regulators, and pension administrators, plus any ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Coordinate expatriate payroll requirements by liaising with external advisers (e.g., PwC, KPMG) and ensuring all country-specific rules are followed.
  • Respond to employee and pensioner inquiries about payslips, deductions, and other payroll matters, delivering a consistently helpful and accurate customer service experience.
  • Organise and archive payroll records and distribute payslips securely, following established filing procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements by suggesting updates to operational procedures that enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least three years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably in a medium-to-large organisation.
  • Experience in HR administration, including handling employee records and queries.
  • Bookkeeping or accounting background, with a solid understanding of debits, credits, and reconciliation principles.
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations, pension schemes, and statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, and comfort working under deadlines.
