Job Description

Role Overview

This position supports the full human resources function for a multi-site organisation, with a strong focus on operational delivery, compliance, and workforce development. Day to day, the role involves maintaining accurate employee records, preparing HR data that feeds into payroll, guiding managers through performance and disciplinary processes, and coordinating training initiatives across depots, transport, and distribution teams. The work directly supports the company's goal of building an efficient, engaged, and legally compliant workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, induction, contract administration, and exit formalities, while keeping HR systems current.
  • Maintain personnel files and HRMIS records so that all data is accurate, secure, and meets statutory and company requirements.
  • Implement HR policies and practices in line with Kenyan labour law, including compliance obligations such as NSSF, NHIF, and PAYE.
  • Support performance management activities, including goal setting, appraisals, and individual development plans.
  • Handle employee relations matters such as grievances and disciplinary proceedings, while reinforcing a fair and positive workplace culture.
  • Build and manage the organisation's training framework, covering needs assessments, annual plans, budgets, provider partnerships, delivery, and evaluation of impact, including HSSEQ-related learning.
  • Administer payroll inputs, leave balances, benefits, welfare programs, and employee engagement or recognition initiatives.
  • Provide consistent HR support to depot, transport, and distribution teams so that all operational locations receive the same quality of service.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field, with a second upper class division or above clearly indicated on the CV.
  • KCSE certificate with a B+ grade or better, clearly indicated on the CV.
  • Professional HR certification such as CHRP is an added advantage.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally within the oil and gas industry or a similarly fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Practical proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
