Role Overview
You will lead a dedicated team that ensures every incoming and outgoing payment is accurately reconciled, working across treasury, technology, and regional operations to replace manual reconciliations with automated, ERP-integrated workflows. Daily work involves analysing transaction anomalies, tightening vendor payment controls, and advising leadership on operational improvements that keep financial processes compliant and scalable. This role matters because it directly safeguards cash accuracy and reduces financial risk across a complex, high-volume payments environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the automation roadmap for bank reconciliations by collaborating with tech and treasury teams to embed new tools into the ERP, converting repetitive manual matching into system-driven processes.
- Design and maintain pre- and post-payment vendor reconciliation frameworks that catch duplicate payments early, clear aged balances, and enforce strict compliance with internal controls.
- Identify operational choke points in payment and reconciliation workflows, develop corrective action plans, and document updated standard operating procedures to keep processes audit-ready at all times.
- Mentor a group of finance professionals through regular coaching, skill-building sessions, and structured career development plans, while actively recruiting to strengthen the team’s talent pipeline.
- Serve as deputy to the Payments & Treasury leadership, stepping in to lead critical cross-functional initiatives, provide strategic input on payment operations, and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Investigate complex transactional discrepancies and work with regional teams to resolve root causes, reducing recurring exceptions and improving overall reconciliation accuracy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certification: CPA certification or ACCA Finalist status is mandatory.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- Experience: 6 to 8 years of progressive work in finance operations, treasury, payments, or financial controls.
- Technical expertise: Strong command of bank, vendor, and balance sheet reconciliations, plus hands‑on proficiency with modern ERP systems.
- Advanced spreadsheet skills: Expert use of Excel or Google Sheets for data manipulation, analysis, and building reports that clearly communicate insights to stakeholders.
