Role Overview
This role focuses on delivering university-level instruction within a candidate’s area of academic specialization, with the expectation of following approved syllabi and curricula. The lecturer will be responsible for coordinating practical work and student projects, preparing structured learning materials, and managing assessments from design through marking. This position is central to maintaining academic quality and ensuring that students receive consistent, well-supported learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures and teach within the designated specialization, aligned to the official syllabus and curriculum requirements.
- Coordinate student projects and practical exercises, providing clear direction and oversight throughout each engagement.
- Develop and refresh teaching and learning resources such as lecture notes, handouts, and practical guides.
- Set examinations and assignments that accurately assess the intended learning outcomes.
- Supervise and invigilate examinations in compliance with institutional assessment policies.
- Mark student examinations, assignments, and practical reports, and offer constructive feedback on performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited and recognized university.
- Relevant teaching experience at university level, or comparable experience gained through research or industry practice in the field.
- A thorough understanding of curriculum delivery, course coordination, and examination processes.
- Strong ability to prepare instructional materials and manage academic assessments effectively.
- For qualifications obtained outside Kenya, applicants must hold a valid equation and recognition certificate from the relevant regulatory authority.
