Role Overview
As a Painter, you will manage the full process of preparing and finishing surfaces, from walls and ceilings to doors, furniture, and other features. Your craftsmanship keeps properties looking clean, well-maintained, and welcoming while helping protect surfaces from daily wear. This is a reliever role, so you will step in as needed to handle scheduled painting, touch-ups, and repair work in hospitality or commercial property maintenance settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning away dirt, grease, and dust, sanding or scraping old finishes, and filling cracks, holes, and other imperfections.
- Apply primer, paint, varnish, and protective finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, and additional surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Match and mix colors so repaired sections blend with surrounding surfaces and finished work looks uniform.
- Operate, clean, and store painting tools, ladders, sprayers, and materials correctly to keep them in good working order.
- Maintain tidy, organized work areas and follow safety procedures for ventilation, protective gear, and chemical handling.
- Inspect completed areas for defects, missed spots, or damage, and report needed touch-ups or repairs to the supervisor.
- Manage time efficiently to complete assigned painting tasks within expected schedules while maintaining a high standard of finish.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Prior professional experience as a painter is required; candidates should be able to demonstrate hands-on painting and finishing work.
- Solid knowledge of surface preparation methods, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and priming.
- Ability to apply paint, varnish, and other finishes evenly and neatly using common tools and equipment.
- Strong color-matching skills and a sharp eye for detail to achieve clean, professional edges and consistent coverage.
- Good time management and reliability, with the flexibility to work on a reliever basis as operational needs arise.
- Understanding of safe chemical handling, tool maintenance, and worksite organization.
- Hospitality or commercial property maintenance experience is an advantage.
- No formal degree is specified; relevant trade training or certification in painting and decorating is beneficial.
