Role Overview
This position drives daily route performance and operational excellence at a last-mile delivery station, ensuring that every package leaves the building efficiently and safely. The role blends hands-on coaching with data analysis—analysing performance metrics, training teams, and adjusting processes in real time to maximise productivity. Beyond the day-to-day, the person in this role leads continuous improvement projects that reshape how the transportation network functions, directly impacting customer delivery speed and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the operational strategy, setting clear performance targets for route teams and using periodic data reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with in-station management to establish and maintain quality control standards across all under-roof handling processes.
- Proactively identify areas for operational improvement and lead initiatives using Lean methodologies and process-analysis tools.
- Coordinate cross-functionally—working with dispatch, sortation, and support teams—to ensure tasks are on track and aligned with program milestones.
- Align communications across multiple departments so that daily goals support the broader program objectives, reducing silos and friction.
- Conduct strategic planning and forecasting to evaluate performance trends, identify bottlenecks, and develop resolution plans.
- Manage several complex, simultaneous projects from initiation through execution, including data gathering, supply chain modelling, and recommendation reporting.
- Implement improvements to the transportation network that increase flexibility, reduce costs, and improve on-time delivery for customers.
- Enforce all safety, security, and loss prevention procedures; ensure teams follow protocols without exception.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 3+ years directly managing employees and performance in a fast-paced operations or logistics environment.
- Schedule flexibility: Willingness to work weekends, nights, and holidays as the business demands.
- Language: Fluent English—speaking, writing, and reading at a professional level.
- Overall tenure: 7+ years of progressive professional experience in operations, supply chain, or a related field.
- Preferred — Metrics & Process Improvement: 1+ years applying performance metrics, Lean techniques, or other continuous improvement methodologies in an operational setting.
