Job Title: Nursing In-Charge – Outpatient & Accident & Emergency Departments
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced nursing professional to coordinate, supervise, and deliver high-quality nursing care in the Outpatient (OPD) and Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments. The successful candidate will ensure effective resource management, adherence to clinical standards, and a positive patient experience.
Job Purpose
To provide leadership and clinical oversight in the OPD and A&E departments, managing nursing teams, optimizing workflows, and ensuring that all patients receive safe, timely, and compassionate care in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise nursing staff in the Outpatient and Accident & Emergency departments to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care delivery.
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical standards, protocols, and infection control measures.
- Manage resources including staffing, equipment, and supplies to maintain operational readiness.
- Conduct regular training and competency assessments for nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with BLS, ACLS, and other certifications.
- Foster a positive patient experience by addressing complaints, improving communication, and promoting a culture of empathy and respect.
- Collaborate with medical staff, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to enhance interdisciplinary care.
- Prepare reports on departmental performance, incidents, and quality improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Licensing: Valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) license.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or in-charge role, preferably in OPD/A&E settings.
- Certifications (mandatory): Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Certification (added advantage): Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
