Role Overview
This part-time Instructional Designer position supports a Nairobi-based financial services firm by building and refreshing online courses aimed at helping business owners sharpen their practical abilities in key areas like finance, operations, marketing, and growth planning. You will spend your days turning business expertise into structured, engaging learning journeys—drafting scripts, designing slide decks, creating exercises, and aligning everything with the organisation’s brand and instructional standards. Because the role is hybrid, you will split your time between collaborative on-site sessions in Nairobi County and focused remote work, allowing you to manage multiple course projects flexibly while staying connected to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead learning-needs assessments to identify skill gaps and define clear, measurable objectives for each online course.
- Develop complete course structures, including module outlines, lesson plans, scripts, and facilitator or learner guides.
- Create original learning assets such as slide presentations, scenario-based activities, case studies, quizzes, and practical assignments tailored to adult business learners.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to extract accurate, practical content and translate it into learner-friendly language.
- Adapt and structure materials for various learning platforms, ensuring compatibility with LMS systems and authoring tools like Articulate or Captivate.
- Review learner feedback, completion data, and assessment results to recommend and implement improvements to course quality and engagement.
- Maintain consistency, inclusivity, and gender-neutral language in all content while upholding the company’s editorial and brand guidelines.
- Manage your own timelines and coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver multiple course updates on schedule.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with instructional design models, curriculum development, and adult learning theory for online or blended environments.
- Working proficiency with e-learning authoring tools and LMS platforms, including Articulate, Captivate, or equivalent software.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, structured course materials—lesson plans, scripts, presentations, and assessments—for business-focused audiences.
- Experience analysing learner needs and using evaluation data, feedback, and performance metrics to refine course effectiveness.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and peers in hybrid teams.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills to balance multiple projects in a part-time, hybrid working arrangement.
- Familiarity with business domains such as entrepreneurship, operations, finance, marketing, or growth strategy is a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- A clear commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory, and gender-neutral learning content and practices.
What We Offer / Why Join
This role offers a genuine blend of in-person teamwork and remote flexibility, ideal for an instructional designer who values variety and autonomy.
