German Language Teacher

Role Overview

Teach German to adult learners preparing for study or employment in German-speaking countries, building their skills from beginner level through A1–B1. Your work will combine language instruction, exam preparation and practical communication training, with student progress and readiness for placement at the centre of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver German lessons to beginner and intermediate learners in group classes and smaller sessions as required.
• Prepare learners for recognised exams, including Goethe and telc assessments.
• Set course objectives, plan lessons and create or adapt materials to suit learners’ levels and goals.
• Check learning regularly, keep progress records and provide specific, constructive feedback.
• Teach language for everyday situations and working life, including interviews and professional communication.
• Coordinate with recruitment and placement colleagues to align training with employers’ language needs.
• Teach across different branches and update the Managing Director on class progress and examination outcomes.
• Use digital tools to support online or blended lessons where needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong German proficiency, preferably at B2 level or above, supported by a relevant certificate.
• A degree is strongly preferred, ideally in German, languages, linguistics or education.
• Experience teaching German or another language to adult learners.
• Clear, patient communication and the ability to make grammar and language concepts accessible.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to prepare lessons and assess work reliably.
• Confidence using digital tools for teaching.
• Willingness to travel between branches.
• A recognised teaching qualification, Goethe or telc examiner/trainer certification, exam-preparation experience, international placement or study-abroad experience, or time spent in a German-speaking country would be an advantage.
