Role Overview
This position sits within the bank’s IT operations team and is responsible for keeping business-critical network systems and enterprise applications running reliably across all branches. Day to day, you will monitor infrastructure health, diagnose hardware and software faults, support users through incidents, and work closely with the IT Network Manager to implement improvements and maintain security controls. Your efforts directly enable uninterrupted banking operations and support the bank’s regulatory and audit obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level and advanced technical support for network infrastructure, enterprise applications, and end-user hardware, resolving incidents and documenting fixes.
- Monitor system availability, performance, and capacity across LAN/WAN environments, carrying out proactive checks and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
- Install, configure, and support network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls, and telephony systems, particularly during new branch setups.
- Administer and secure firewall environments, VPN access, intrusion prevention systems, and secure web gateways in line with the bank’s IT security policy.
- Investigate data network faults across local and wide area environments, and coordinate with vendors or on-site engineers to resolve issues remotely.
- Support the rollout of new applications and system enhancements, including patching, firmware upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the IT infrastructure, including network diagrams, configuration standards, inventory records, and internal procedures.
- Provide user training and guidance to branch ICT contacts on network configuration, connectivity issues, and VOIP telephony, raising overall digital competence.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA or Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) are required or strongly preferred.
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience working with IT networking and infrastructure, ideally within a financial services or similarly regulated environment.
- Advanced working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VLANs, with the ability to design and troubleshoot large-scale, high-availability LAN/WAN networks.
- Practical experience with modern network architectures including SD-Access and SD-WAN.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining firewall appliances such as Check Point and Cisco FTD, alongside site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions.
- Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), network access control (NAC), and authentication protocols such as RADIUS and TACACS+.
- Working experience with IP telephony and unified communications platforms, and the ability to support and diagnose voice-related issues.
