Job Description

Role Overview

This role keeps the mill running safely and efficiently, from grain intake and conditioning through grinding, flour transfer, and packing-line supply. The miller monitors equipment settings, extraction rates, and throughput so that production plans are met without compromising food safety or product quality. It matters because every adjustment affects yield, energy and maintenance costs, customer order fulfilment, and the reliability of flour supply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute daily production plans and schedules, monitor wheat and maize cleaning, conditioning, and grinding lines, and keep flour flowing to packing according to the plan.
  • Set water addition and resting times for wheat and maize, maintain wheat transfer at 14 MT/hr and maize at 8.5 MT/hr, and ensure screenings are separated and blended into by-products correctly.
  • Protect extraction rates and milling efficiency by reviewing grist, watching milling costs, investigating process losses, and applying prompt corrective actions to meet product specifications.
  • Uphold food safety and quality programs, keep GMP above 90%, follow legal and regulatory requirements, and support sanitation, deep cleaning, and pest inspection routines.
  • Coordinate with the packing supervisor on schedules and flour availability, replenish finished-goods Kanban, liaise with sales on order updates, and post bulk flour movements in SAP within agreed service levels.
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections and support autonomous, planned, and condition-based maintenance, including AM tagging, roll changes, sifter servicing, drive checks, MCC/PLC integrity, process scales, and interlock verification.
  • Drive continual improvement using PaTaMu and PDCA, help remove bottlenecks, attend and contribute to HK reviews, participate in training, and support site initiatives linked to the FIRST culture code.
  • Keep process records, production reports, mill backup and screen room documentation accurate, reconcile additives, take part in stocktakes, and resolve or escalate variances and team issues through face-to-face discussions and coaching.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Diploma or advanced certificate in Milling Technology.
  • At least three years working in the milling industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools for reporting and communication.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills, with the ability to guide a team and work across departments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, comfort working under pressure with minimal supervision, and good presentation skills.

What We Offer / Why Join

You will work in a milling environment that values training, safety, and continuous improvement. The role offers exposure to autonomous and planned maintenance, PLC-based process control, quality and food safety systems, and structured performance reviews with mill leadership. You will also help shape site initiatives through the company’s FIRST culture code and have opportunities to build milling, maintenance, and leadership capabilities.
