Job Description

Role Overview

This position places you at the center of a Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation, where you will be the internal authority on Finance & Operations (F&O) technical delivery. Your days will involve turning business requirements from finance, supply chain, procurement, and operations teams into robust X++ solutions, custom integrations, and insightful reports — all while ensuring the platform remains stable, scalable, and aligned with Microsoft's best practices.

Beyond go-live, you take permanent ownership of the F&O environment: refining processes, fixing defects, optimizing performance, and guiding continuous improvements. You act as the bridge between functional consultants and technical reality, owning everything from detailed design documents to deployment pipelines and long-term system health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business users and functional consultants to gather, interpret, and document technical requirements for Finance and Operations modules, then turn functional design documents into clear technical design specifications.
  • Design and build X++ customizations and extensions using the official extension framework — never overlayering — including tables, forms, data entities, workflows, and security roles, duties, and privileges.
  • Develop SSRS reports and configure Electronic Reporting (ER/GER) structures to meet evolving business reporting needs, and create or maintain batch jobs for automated routine processes.
  • Implement and manage integrations using OData, custom services, Data Management Framework (DMF), Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and dual-write synchronization with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement.
  • Support data migration initiatives by designing data packages, validating transformations, and troubleshooting load issues in DMF and LCS environments.
  • Manage source control, branching, builds, and deployments through Azure DevOps and Lifecycle Services (LCS), ensuring smooth progression from development to production.
  • Conduct unit testing, assist with system and user acceptance testing, resolve defects, and perform query and performance tuning to keep the system responsive under real workloads.
  • Maintain thorough technical documentation, contribute to an internal knowledge base, and provide ongoing post-go-live support and enhancement delivery.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Hands-on X++ development experience with Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain (or Dynamics AX) — minimum 3–5 years across full implementation lifecycles.
  • Deep competence with the extension framework, Visual Studio tooling, and the F&O metadata model; you should be comfortable customizing without overlayering.
  • Proven experience with data entities, DMF, SSRS report development, and Electronic Reporting (ER) configuration.
  • Integration track record using OData, custom services, recurring integrations, Azure-based services (Logic Apps, Functions), and dual-write.
  • Solid command of Lifecycle Services (LCS) and Azure DevOps build/release pipelines with Git version control.
  • Strong SQL skills, including query tuning, index optimization, and debugging data issues.
  • Working knowledge of core F&O functional areas such as general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, inventory, procurement, and production.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; combined finance/accounting and IT backgrounds are welcomed.
  • Microsoft certifications strongly preferred — MB-500 (Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Apps Developer) and/or MB-300 (Dynamics 365 Core Finance and Operations).
  • Experience with large or multi-entity data migrations, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure data services is a nice-to-have.
  • You bring solid requirements elicitation skills, strong technical writing ability, structured problem-solving, and clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You are self-driven, well-organized, able to juggle multiple workstreams, and comfortable collaborating with implementation partners and internal stakeholders.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a rare opportunity to own the technical direction of a Dynamics 365 F&O platform from day one — shaping customizations, integrations, and architecture for the long term rather than being a short-term contractor. You will work directly with senior business stakeholders across finance and operations, gaining deep domain insight while building a durable in-house capability.

You will join a team that values clean, maintainable code and Microsoft best practices, with room to influence tooling, processes, and the internal knowledge base. If you are looking for a role with genuine product ownership, cross-functional exposure, and steady professional growth, this position offers that and more.
