Job Description
Role Overview
The IT Event Management Engineer builds and improves monitoring and alerting capabilities across enterprise cloud and on-premises environments. By turning operational signals into actionable alerts and linking detection to service management workflows, this role helps teams spot issues earlier, reduce alert noise, and limit disruption to users and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain event detection and alerting workflows for infrastructure and applications across hybrid environments.
- Configure monitoring tools to correlate related events, tune thresholds, and reduce duplicate or low-value alerts.
- Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM systems so qualifying events can trigger and update incidents automatically.
- Use scripting and automation to streamline event handling, improve consistency, and reduce manual operational effort.
- Analyze event data and service trends to identify recurring issues, detection gaps, and opportunities to improve reliability.
- Develop operational dashboards and reports that make monitoring performance and event patterns easier to understand.
- Document standards, procedures, and reusable guidance for event management practices.
- Work with infrastructure, application, and service management teams to refine alerting and coordinate service assurance improvements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of overall professional experience, including 5 or more years of hands-on work in enterprise IT operations, monitoring, and event management.
- Practical experience with enterprise monitoring or event management tools such as OpsBridge, Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, or Site24x7.
- Experience integrating monitoring tools with ITSM platforms to support automated incident management.
- Hands-on scripting or automation experience using tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
- Strong knowledge of IT operations monitoring, event correlation, alert tuning, and reducing alert noise.
- Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, dashboards, analytics, and reporting tools such as Power BI or Kibana.
- Working knowledge of ITSM practices, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- ITIL Foundation certification is required; ITIL Intermediate or ITIL 4 Managing Professional is an advantage.
- Cloud-platform or monitoring-tool certifications, including Azure or AWS credentials, are desirable.
