Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of the finance function, ensuring that management receives accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. The role involves preparing management accounts, conducting variance analysis, and supporting regulatory submissions, all of which underpin effective performance monitoring and strategic decision-making. By delivering clear commentary and robust financial analysis, the jobholder directly enables senior leadership and external stakeholders to act with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts in accordance with IFRS and applicable prudential guidelines, ensuring completeness and integrity of reported figures.
- Analyse actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, identifying key variances and the underlying business drivers.
- Monitor daily income and expense postings to confirm correct capture, and investigate and correct any misallocations promptly.
- Develop financial reports, presentations, and commentary that review income, expenditure, balance sheet, and profitability trends for management use.
- Assist in compiling Board, ALCO, and EXCO packs, and calculate key ratios such as cost of funds, yield on assets, cost of income, liquidity, and non-funded income mix, advising on optimal balance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and periodic reforecasting cycles, and prepare branch profitability reports.
- Contribute to regulatory reporting by preparing and submitting CBK and KDIC returns, reconciling data, reviewing GL mappings for consistency, and assisting with quarterly financial publications.
- Coordinate external audit activities, provide requested information, follow up on queries, and conduct ad hoc financial reviews while maintaining appropriate controls and confidentiality.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in a finance role, ideally within banking or financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics from a recognised university.
- Professional qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles.
- Familiarity with CBK prudential guidelines and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel and PowerPoint, plus experience with financial or accounting systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work under time pressure, and meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a positive team-oriented attitude, and discretion when handling confidential information.
