Role Overview
Family Bank is recruiting banking professionals into its open positions, giving you the chance to grow a long-term career inside one of Kenya's most trusted financial institutions. Day to day, the work centres on serving customers well, keeping transactions and records accurate, and helping the bank grow its deposit and lending base in a tightly regulated environment. Whichever function you join, your contribution feeds directly into the confidence customers place in the bank and into the strength of the communities it serves.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to customer enquiries at the branch or through the bank's service channels, resolving account, transaction and product questions accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
- Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments and other transactions in line with laid-down procedures, limits and authorisation controls.
- Build and manage a portfolio of customer relationships, identifying needs and recommending appropriate savings, credit, insurance or digital banking solutions.
- Appraise credit requests, prepare submissions, and follow up on disbursement, documentation and repayment performance for accounts under your care.
- Carry out Know Your Customer, anti-money laundering and customer due diligence checks, escalating any suspicious activity through the correct channels.
- Reconcile daily transactions, cash and ledger entries, and prepare reports that keep supervisors and head office informed of performance and exceptions.
- Cross-sell the bank's products and services to existing and prospective customers while meeting set sales and service targets.
- Handle complaints and service failures promptly, documenting root causes so recurring issues can be fixed rather than repeated.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, commerce, accounting or a related discipline. The grade and scope of the position you are considered for will depend on your experience and qualifications.
- Practical experience in a bank, microfinance institution or other regulated financial services environment, with a clear understanding of branch operations and customer service delivery.
- Working knowledge of Kenyan banking regulations and Central Bank of Kenya prudential requirements, including KYC and AML obligations.
- Comfort using core banking systems and standard office software for reporting, reconciliation and record keeping.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability, with the attention to detail needed to catch discrepancies before they become losses.
- Clear written and spoken communication in English and Kiswahili, and the interpersonal skills to deal calmly with customers who are frustrated or in a hurry.
- Demonstrated integrity and sound judgement — you will be handling other people's money and personal information.
- A professional qualification such as AKIB, ACIB, CPA, CSIA or similar, plus sales or relationship management exposure, would strengthen your application.
What We Offer / Why Join
- The chance to build a career with a bank that Kenyan customers trust, rather than a short-term placement.
- Exposure to real banking work across customer service, credit, operations and compliance, with room to specialise as you progress.
- A structured recruitment process that assesses your skills and experience so you can be matched to the opening that fits you best.
