Job Description

Role Overview

This Management Trainee position in Financial Accounting at St. Crispin Afya Hospital Ltd is designed for a recent or early-career finance graduate who wants to build real accounting experience inside a healthcare institution. Based in Kajiado and reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will rotate through the hospital’s daily financial operations—recording revenue, reconciling patient bills and insurance claims, processing supplier payments, and supporting monthly reporting. The role matters because accurate bookkeeping and clean audit trails directly keep hospital services running and financially accountable. Strong performers who show reliability and skill during the training period will be considered for a permanent, long-term placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the hospital’s financial ledgers by recording daily revenue receipts, patient payments, and other transactions accurately and promptly.
  • Reconcile patient billing records, insurance claim payments, and cash collections against hospital account balances to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support the accounts payable function by verifying supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and receipts before they are approved and processed.
  • Take part in routine stock audits and reconciliation of medical supplies and pharmaceutical inventories with the stores department.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and hospital policies.
  • Track departmental spending against approved budgets and help highlight variances for the Senior Accountant’s review.
  • Organise and maintain both physical and digital financial records, ensuring documents are properly filed and ready for internal or external audits.
  • Carry out administrative and financial duties assigned by the Hospital Administrator, contributing to the smooth running of daily operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business discipline from a recognised university.
  • Certified Public Accountants (CPA) qualification completed at least up to the Intermediate Level.
  • Up to 2 years of practical accounting exposure, or a strong academic foundation in financial accounting for recent graduates.
  • High numerical accuracy and careful attention to detail in ledger entries, calculations, and reconciliations.
  • Strong personal integrity, discipline, and respect for financial confidentiality.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn through mentorship, with the ability to work well within a team.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a structured, on-site training role with a monthly stipend of KSh 35,000, giving you hands-on exposure to the financial operations of a healthcare provider. You will receive direct mentorship from the Senior Accountant and gain practical experience across bookkeeping, billing reconciliation, payables, budgeting, and audit preparation. The role is based in Kajiado and operates Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with successful trainees considered for long-term placement within the hospital.
