Role Overview
This position places you at the operational core of our supply chain, where you will direct daily warehouse and transport activities while shaping long-term logistics strategy. Your leadership directly influences how safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively goods move through our Kenya-based operations, and your decisions help maintain service quality, regulatory compliance, and inventory accuracy across the entire function.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and guide a high-performing logistics and warehouse team by coaching members, identifying skill gaps, and creating development plans that align individual growth with current and future operational demands.
- Enforce and oversee adherence to Kenyan legal requirements, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and the company’s HSEQ management system, ensuring every procedure and control point is consistently followed.
- Drive measurable improvements by setting clear KPIs, tracking performance trends, and launching targeted continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing, transport, and inventory processes.
- Lead procurement-driven freight and warehousing tenders, evaluate cost-effective shipping options, and collaborate with purchasing colleagues to negotiate favorable terms and reduce logistics spend without compromising service.
- Establish transportation guidelines, assess delivery performance against standards, review and approve carrier contracts, and recommend practical solutions to improve route efficiency and on-time delivery.
- Maintain optimal stock levels by supervising cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring the inventory management system reflects accurate, real-time quantities.
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including inbound receiving, order picking, quality inspections, and monitoring product expiry dates to minimise waste and preserve product integrity.
- Protect warehouse assets and infrastructure by planning effective layout designs, inspecting equipment regularly, raising work orders for repairs, and requesting replacements when needed to keep operations running safely.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in supply chain, logistics, or warehouse roles, with at least four years spent leading teams and managing logistics or warehouse operations.
- Working knowledge of Kenyan safety and environmental regulations, plus practical experience implementing ISO-aligned HSEQ compliance programmes across multiple sites or functions.
- Solid understanding of end-to-end freight and customs processes in Kenya, including import/export documentation, clearing procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage inventory control, distribution networks, and purchasing or procurement workflows effectively.
- Strong leadership and people development skills, with the confidence to take initiative, negotiate persuasively, and be accountable for operational outcomes.
- Excellent planning and problem-solving abilities, sound judgment under pressure, and clear communication skills that enable adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
