Role Overview
This position puts you in charge of the final checkpoint before goods leave the warehouse. Your day-to-day focus is supervising the loading team, checking every shipment against its paperwork, and making sure vehicles are loaded safely and on time. The accuracy of your records and your ability to spot mismatches or damage directly protects the company from costly shipping errors, lost inventory, and delivery delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily loading crew, assigning tasks, monitoring pacing, and stepping in to resolve issues as they arise.
- Cross-check delivery notes, invoices, manifests, and loading sheets against the actual cargo before each vehicle departs.
- Confirm product codes, quantities, and packaging condition, immediately flagging any discrepancy, shortfall, or visible damage.
- Keep precise loading records and organized dispatch files, ensuring every shipment can be traced after the fact.
- Enforce safety and compliance standards across the loading bay, including correct handling procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Coordinate with warehouse and transport teams to prioritize outgoing loads and meet dispatch deadlines without bottlenecks.
- Report irregularities, incidents, or delays to management promptly, with clear documentation of what went wrong.
- Maintain a clean, orderly loading area so that operations flow smoothly from one shift to the next.
Requirements & Qualifications
- KCSE certificate is the minimum educational requirement; a diploma in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is a strong advantage.
- At least one year of practical experience in a warehouse, dispatch, or loading bay environment.
- Solid communication skills to give clear instructions and coordinate with drivers, loaders, and supervisors.
- Strong organizational ability to manage multiple shipments, documents, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Leadership presence to direct a team and enforce safety and accuracy standards without friction.
- Personal integrity, sharp attention to detail, and a consistent sense of urgency when handling time-sensitive cargo.
