Job Description

Job Title: Line Attendant (Supermarket)
Nature of Job: Full‑time
Industry: Retail
Salary: KSh 12,000 – 14,000 per month
Job Location: Limuru (Ndenderu), Kenya

Role Overview

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Line Attendant for a supermarket in Limuru (Ndenderu). You will be responsible for keeping shelves fully stocked, well‑organized, and presentable while supporting store operations and customer service. This role is ideal for physically active, detail‑oriented individuals who enjoy a fast‑paced retail environment.

Main Responsibilities

Shelf Stocking & Replenishment

  • Continuously restock shelves to ensure products are always available.

  • Arrange items according to store layout, brand guidelines, and product categories.

Merchandising & Display

  • Create neat, attractive, and customer‑friendly product displays.

  • Ensure items are front‑faced, aligned, and visually appealing to encourage sales.

Stock Monitoring & Reporting

  • Regularly check inventory levels on shelves and in storage.

  • Identify fast‑moving or low‑stock items and report to the supervisor for restocking.

Receiving & Handling Deliveries

  • Assist in offloading, counting, and verifying incoming stock.

  • Ensure received items match delivery notes and are stored in the correct locations.

Product Quality Control

  • Inspect products for damage, defects, or expired dates.

  • Remove and report expired, near‑expiry, or damaged goods according to store procedures.

Pricing & Labeling

  • Ensure all items are correctly priced and labeled.

  • Update shelf tags when prices change and report discrepancies between shelf and system pricing.

Customer Assistance

  • Greet customers politely and help them locate products.

  • Answer basic product inquiries and provide simple recommendations where possible.

Aisle Maintenance & Cleanliness

  • Keep shelves, aisles, and storage areas clean, organized, and safe.

  • Ensure a safe and welcoming shopping environment.

Loss Prevention

  • Monitor stock movement to reduce shrinkage, theft, or damage.

  • Report suspicious activities or discrepancies to management.

Team Support

  • Work closely with colleagues and supervisors for smooth operations.

  • Assist in other sections when needed.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.

  • Adhere to company policies and operational procedures.

End‑of‑Day Duties

  • Participate in stock counts, tidying assigned sections, and preparing the store for the next day.

You Need

  • Minimum KCSE certificate.

  • Previous experience in a supermarket or retail environment is an added advantage.

  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Customer‑service oriented with a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle physical tasks (lifting, standing for long hours).

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining neat product displays.
