Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within an airline’s engineering and line maintenance team, where the core mission is to keep the active fleet airworthy, on schedule, and comfortable for passengers. Every day involves hands-on inspection, fault diagnosis, and certified repair work across aircraft systems, with the ultimate goal of releasing each aircraft for service safely and within tight operational windows. Your work directly supports the airline’s dispatch reliability and ensures that maintenance records remain accurate and compliant with aviation regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose reported faults on aircraft, perform the necessary corrective actions, and certify the aircraft as fit for service so that scheduled departures are not disrupted.
  • Execute routine maintenance checks, including scheduled servicing and incorporation of manufacturer service bulletins, while managing the work within the allotted ground time.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, overhaul, modify, and test aircraft components and systems, then certify the completed work to keep turnaround times efficient and the fleet operational.
  • Maintain and certify cabin systems and amenities to ensure a comfortable, safe, and pleasant experience for passengers on every flight.
  • Identify and request the correct spare parts and materials needed to complete each maintenance task without unnecessary delays.
  • Perform and certify duplicate inspections on safety-critical aircraft and engine systems, verifying that all work meets stringent integrity standards.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences through the established airline procedures to support continuous safety improvement.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately, including signatures and details of work performed, to keep the aircraft’s history and technical records current and reliable.
  • Work in full compliance with the airline’s safety, health, and environmental policies while on the hangar floor or at outstations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ or its recognised equivalent.
  • A diploma in Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Prior hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance is advantageous, especially if gained in a line or base maintenance environment.
  • Willingness to travel and work at outstations where aircraft may require support on short notice.
  • Solid working knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices, aircraft systems, and aviation safety procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical reasoning skills, with the ability to resolve complex defects methodically.
  • A meticulous approach to detail and a deep commitment to airworthiness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
