Lecturer - Chemistry

Role Overview

Teach and assess students in your area of expertise across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while supporting their academic development through project and thesis supervision. The role also contributes to course design, research, professional engagement and the university’s wider academic and administrative work.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver subject-specific teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Assess coursework and examinations, and provide feedback on student progress.
• Guide undergraduate projects and other practical or experiential learning activities.
• Supervise postgraduate dissertations and theses.
• Contribute to the design, review and development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Develop, support and take part in research projects, including sharing findings through scholarly publications.
• Provide professional and community services, build relevant partnerships and support fundraising initiatives.
• Undertake administrative responsibilities and other duties assigned to the role.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Either an earned doctoral degree, or an equivalent qualification, from a recognised academic institution; or a master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited and recognised university. The master’s-degree route applies to Health and ICT fields.
• Applicants using the master’s-degree route must have at least three years of teaching experience at university level, or relevant experience in research or industry.
• Registration with the relevant professional body is required where applicable. Applicants must be registered or eligible to register.
• Applicants using the master’s-degree route must have at least one publication. Publications are an advantage for applicants with a doctorate.
