Job Description
Role Overview
This academic role combines university teaching with student supervision, course development and research in the successful candidate’s discipline. The postholder will support students from undergraduate projects through postgraduate research while contributing expertise to the university and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the relevant field.
- Guide undergraduate projects and other practical or experiential learning activities.
- Supervise postgraduate dissertations and theses.
- Contribute to the design and ongoing development of programmes and courses at both study levels.
- Develop, support and take part in research projects relevant to the discipline.
- Provide professional and community services, and help establish partnerships and secure funding.
- Undertake administrative tasks and other duties assigned in connection with the role.
Requirements & Qualifications
- For the doctoral-level appointment: an earned doctorate, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised academic institution.
- For the alternative appointment in a relevant Health or ICT field: a master’s degree from an accredited, recognised university.
- For the master’s-level route: at least three years’ experience teaching at university level, or relevant experience in research or industry.
- Registration with the relevant professional body, or eligibility for registration where applicable.
- At least one publication is required for the master’s-level route. Publications are an advantage for doctoral-level applicants.
