Role Overview
You will take ownership of the firm’s entire infrastructure landscape—spanning physical data centers, virtualized environments, and public cloud footprints—and steer it toward greater stability, performance, and scalability. On a day-to-day basis, this means leading engineering squads, designing architectural roadmaps, and stepping in when incidents or migrations demand senior-level judgment. Your work directly supports business continuity, security compliance, and the organization’s ability to grow without technology bottlenecks.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and direct the rollout of new infrastructure systems, including compute clusters, storage arrays, network segments, and hybrid cloud connectivity, ensuring they align with long-term business priorities.
- Oversee the daily operation of all production environments, defining uptime targets, capacity thresholds, and performance baselines for both on-premises and cloud resources.
- Lead complex infrastructure initiatives end-to-end—such as datacenter refreshes, cloud migrations, virtualization platform upgrades, and resilience testing—from planning through post-implementation review.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident-response practices that proactively identify risks, reduce mean time to resolution, and prevent recurring failures.
- Enforce rigorous security and compliance controls across the infrastructure stack, including patch management, access governance, encryption standards, and disaster-recovery drills.
- Coach and mentor infrastructure engineers and support analysts, setting engineering standards, reviewing designs, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
- Partner with application development, security, and operations teams to ensure infrastructure roadmaps support product launches and emerging business requirements.
- Manage relationships with hardware vendors, cloud providers, and managed service partners, negotiating service levels and tracking third-party delivery.
- Produce executive-level reporting on infrastructure health, capacity forecasting, cost optimization, and risk mitigation, translating technical detail into actionable business insight.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least six years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience, with increasing responsibility across design, deployment, and operations.
- Minimum of three years in a technical leadership or senior engineering capacity, including direct mentorship of junior team members and ownership of infrastructure outcomes.
- Substantial background managing enterprise-scale environments—typically 1,000+ users or mission-critical systems—with strict uptime and security requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency spanning both on-premises (bare-metal, virtualized, private cloud) and public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) platforms, including hybrid architectures and migration patterns.
- Deep working knowledge of server hardware, enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/object), networking (routing, switching, firewalls, load balancers), virtualization platforms, and containerized workloads.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project-management capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional workstreams under deadlines.
- Proven ability to translate business objectives into infrastructure strategy and to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
