Role Overview

We are looking for a disciplined and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our hospitality team in Isiolo. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of linens, uniforms, and guest clothing. This role requires a focus on fabric preservation, high hygiene standards, and the safe operation of industrial laundry machinery. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all textile assets are cleaned, pressed, and returned to service in pristine condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sorting and Fabric Care

• Categorize all laundry, linens, and textiles based on fabric type, color, and specific washing requirements.

• Identify and isolate delicate or specialty items that require manual handling or specific chemical treatments.

• Perform thorough inspections for stains, dirt, or fabric damage prior to the wash cycle.

• Apply specialized pre-treatment solutions to remove tough stains while ensuring fabric integrity.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Safely and efficiently operate industrial-grade washing machines, dryers, and pressing/folding equipment.

• Adhere to all manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols for heavy machinery use.

• Conduct basic troubleshooting of equipment and report any mechanical malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.

Inventory & Supply Management

• Monitor and track stock levels of detergents, fabric softeners, and other cleaning chemicals.

• Ensure all chemicals are stored and handled in compliance with safety data sheets to prevent accidents.

• Report low stock levels or damaged supplies to ensure uninterrupted laundry operations.

Quality Control & Finishing

• Inspect all dried items for cleanliness, ensuring all stains have been successfully removed.

• Professionally fold, iron, and package laundry items according to established hospitality standards.

• Maintain a consistent output of high-quality, crisp, and fresh linens and garments.

Operational Safety & Hygiene

• Maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace within the laundry room and storage areas.

• Follow strict occupational health and safety (OHS) standards regarding chemical disposal and waste management.

• Collaborate with the housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

Professional Prerequisites

• Experience: Prior experience in commercial laundry operations is an advantage but not mandatory.

• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of laundry chemicals and stain removal techniques is preferred.

• Machinery Skills: Ability to operate and manage industrial washing machines and drying units.

• Physical Attributes: High level of physical stamina to handle large laundry loads and excellent attention to detail.

• Soft Skills: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively within a team environment.
