Role Overview
This role sits within the production floor of an established LPG cylinder manufacturing operation, where precision-machined components are essential to the safety and reliability of finished gas containers. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring lathe machines—both conventional and CNC—to produce parts that meet exact engineering specifications. Your work directly supports production continuity, quality assurance, and the overall efficiency of the manufacturing line.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional and CNC lathe machines to manufacture components used in LPG cylinder assembly, following job orders and production schedules.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, work-holding devices, and machining parameters such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut for each job.
- Use precision measuring instruments including vernier callipers, micrometres, dial gauges, and bore gauges to inspect finished parts and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and checking of coolant levels, as well as identifying and troubleshooting basic mechanical or operational faults.
- Monitor machining processes during operation, making necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and prevent defects, waste, or machine damage.
- Document production output, inspection results, and any machine issues in accordance with company procedures, and communicate deviations to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies relevant to a manufacturing environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Technical Certificate, Diploma, or Trade Test qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Production Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience operating conventional or CNC lathe machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints with a solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Strong working knowledge of machining principles, including cutting speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and material properties.
- Practical competence with precision measuring instruments and a commitment to maintaining tight tolerances.
- Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify issues before they cause downtime or quality problems.
- Good attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work effectively within a team under production deadlines.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is an opportunity to contribute to a critical production process within a leading manufacturer in the LPG cylinder sector. You will gain exposure to both conventional and CNC machining operations, with the chance to build on your technical skills in a structured, safety-conscious industrial environment. The role offers stable, full-time employment within a growing manufacturing team.
