Role Overview
As an IT Auditor, you will evaluate the design and effectiveness of technology controls across banking systems, applications, and infrastructure. Your daily work involves examining whether digital operations align with regulatory expectations, internal policies, and sound governance practices. This role is essential to the institution because it identifies weaknesses before they become operational, financial, or reputational risks, and it helps leadership respond to a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute IT audit engagements covering core banking platforms, cybersecurity controls, data integrity measures, and IT change-management processes.
- Assess the adequacy of IT governance frameworks and ensure alignment with applicable banking regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Test transactional flows and system-generated reports to verify accuracy, completeness, and timely processing of financial data.
- Analyse audit evidence, document findings, and propose practical remediation steps to mitigate identified risks and control weaknesses.
- Review user access rights and authentication controls to ensure proper segregation of duties and prevention of unauthorised activities.
- Prepare clear, well-structured audit reports for management and regulatory stakeholders, translating technical issues into business-relevant language.
- Track the implementation of corrective actions and conduct follow-up audits to confirm that previously identified issues have been resolved.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and compliance officers to share insights and support a unified control environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Mandatory professional certifications such as CISA, CPA, or an equivalent recognised credential.
- At least three years of hands-on IT auditing experience within a bank, financial services firm, or comparable regulated environment.
- Solid knowledge of banking operations, regulatory requirements, and information technology governance principles.
- Advanced computer proficiency, including familiarity with auditing software, data analytics tools, and standard office applications.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate results under pressure.
