Role Overview
This position is the backbone of daily operations for every team: you are the person who ensures that hardware, software, and network services function smoothly so colleagues can stay productive. You will own the full lifecycle of company devices and user accounts, from provisioning and maintenance to decommissioning, while also acting as the frontline responder when technology fails. Your work directly influences how quickly staff get back online, how accurately the company budgets for technology, and how safely its data is handled.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously update the complete hardware inventory, capturing each device’s current holder, condition, service history, and planned replacement date so that purchasing and budgeting decisions are based on real data.
- Manage the full portfolio of software licences and subscriptions, monitoring costs, renewal dates, and actual usage; proactively cancel unused licences before renewal and identify any unlicensed systems that need immediate attention.
- Run the internal helpdesk from first ticket to final resolution, meeting agreed service levels, escalating complex issues where necessary, and handling new starter setups plus leaver equipment returns on the same day.
- Maintain reliable and secure office network connectivity, including WiFi coverage, with clear separation between guest and corporate traffic; troubleshoot outages and coordinate with internet service providers when faults are external.
- Administer user accounts and access permissions across all company platforms, ensuring accounts are created, modified, or removed in line with role changes and that no inactive or orphaned accounts remain.
- Apply core security controls such as endpoint protection, system patching, backups, and multi-factor authentication; monitor for unusual activity and respond to incidents, while keeping practices aligned with the Data Protection Act, 2019.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least three years of hands-on experience in IT administration, systems administration, or a senior helpdesk role where you were directly responsible for outcomes rather than simply routing tickets.
- Proven practical ability managing Windows and macOS endpoints plus administering Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace across users, groups, and policies.
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs, with real-world experience configuring routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Working knowledge of essential security measures: antivirus/endpoint protection, firewall rules, backup processes, and access control principles.
- Clear written communication in English, because your tickets, documentation, and asset register entries serve as the official record of what was done and why.
