Job Description

Role Overview

This role focuses on delivering engaging Islamic Religious Education (IRE) to primary-level learners, helping them develop a solid grasp of Islamic teachings while fostering moral character and a sense of responsible citizenship. Day to day, you will plan and deliver learner-centred lessons, assess student progress, and collaborate with colleagues to support holistic development—all within a school that emphasises both academic excellence and strong ethical values. Your teaching will directly shape how students understand their faith and apply it in everyday life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare differentiated lessons that meet the varied learning and social needs of all students in your class, using formative and summative assessment to track progress.
  • Create a stimulating classroom environment where resources are accessible and students feel encouraged to participate and ask questions.
  • Set clear, achievable targets for each learner based on their prior attainment, and regularly review these goals with students and parents.
  • Maintain accurate records of student work, attendance, and behaviour, reporting progress to parents through scheduled meetings and written reports.
  • Uphold the school’s behaviour policy by promoting good order and discipline, and address any absences promptly with the principal or deputy.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff, parents, and school leadership to build a positive school culture and contribute to team meetings, seminars, and co-curricular activities.
  • Lead and direct support staff within your classroom, ensuring effective use of teaching assistants or aides to maximise student learning.
  • Participate in performance management processes and take part in professional development sessions to continuously improve your teaching practice.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education (Primary Option) or Bachelor of Primary Education from a recognised university or institution.
  • Evidence of formal studies in Islamic Religious Education from a recognised institution.
  • Active registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • At least three years of teaching experience in a recognised school, preferably in primary education.
  • Sound knowledge of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework and current trends in Islamic Religious Education instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills with a learner-centred, interactive teaching approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, digital learning platforms, and educational technology tools to enhance lesson delivery and assessment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use assessment data to improve learner outcomes and tailor instruction accordingly.
  • A professional mindset with high integrity, respect for confidentiality, accountability, and a proactive, solution-oriented attitude.

What We Offer / Why Join

This role gives you the chance to work in a mission-driven school environment that values both academic rigour and character development. You will be part of a supportive team committed to continuous professional growth, with opportunities to attend training and contribute to a values-based educational community. Your work directly impacts students’ spiritual and intellectual development, making it a rewarding position for an educator passionate about Islamic education and holistic learning.
