In this role, you will perform chromatographic, elemental and instrumental analysis on food and non-food products in accordance with standard operating procedures, national and international standards, industry requirements and client guidelines. Requirements
- Minimum degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
- Minimum two years of laboratory testing experience, preferably in a multi-purpose laboratory
- Good knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 and HSE standards
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Satisfactory capability in the application of relevant testing protocols
- Sound knowledge of laboratory practices, particularly instrumental methods used in trace analysis
Responsibilities
- Test food and non-food products requiring chromatographic, elemental or instrumental analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures, national and international standards and client guidelines
- Ensure all activities comply with the laboratory's QA/QC system, with emphasis on ISO 17025 and GLP requirements
- Employ good instrumental techniques including GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-FID, ICP-OES and UV-Visible Spectrophotometry
- Produce accurate, reliable test data within acceptable repeatability and reproducibility limits
- Adhere to set turnaround times and fully meet client testing requirements using correct methods and standards
- Follow health and safety measures regarding general hygiene, sample testing, sample retention and disposal
- Consistently apply correct methods, standards and techniques in all analysis, including sample preparation prior to instrumental analysis
- Ensure raw data clearly supports results obtained before subsequent approval
- Maintain housekeeping in the laboratory to ensure a clean and safe working environment
- Keep abreast of developments in analytical standards and technologies to support the development and validation of new methods
- Work flexibly to align resources with workload and support 24/7, 365-day service delivery
- Highlight competency gaps and provide or receive training to support personal development and team capability
- Provide cross-coverage for sample registry duties during planned absences
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by management
