Role Summary
Our client is one of the leading motorcycle dealers in Kenya and is seeking a detail‑oriented Inhouse Legal Officer to join the Corporate Affairs team. The role is responsible for managing legal risks, drafting and reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, protecting intellectual property, and advising management on legal and compliance matters. The position supports strategic decision‑making, minimizes legal exposure, and promotes a culture of integrity across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Governance
- Implement compliance checks and monitor regulatory obligations
- Track compliance calendars and prepare reports
- Facilitate internal compliance awareness sessions
Legal Advisory & Risk Management
- Provide legal advice on routine matters and escalate complex issues
- Support risk mitigation and ensure adherence to legal standards
- Assist management in decision-making through legal insights
Contracts Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts using approved templates
- Maintain contract trackers for renewals, expiries, and obligations
- Ensure timely alerts and compliance with contractual terms
Litigation & Legal Support
- Attend court and prepare pleadings
- Conduct legal research and case preparation
- Maintain litigation registers and trackers
Audit & Reporting
- Compile audit findings and recommend corrective actions
- Produce monthly compliance and governance reports
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and proper documentation
Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with regulators and industry bodies
- Handle correspondence and information requests
- Support governance and compliance initiatives
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Law.

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a legal or corporate environment.

Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

Valid practicing certificate from the Law Society of Kenya.

Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Experience in a corporate setup will be an added advantage.

Ability to use applicable software (e.g., MS Office, legal or contract‑management tools).

Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Good understanding of business laws and regulations.

Basic understanding of wider departmental processes and business operations.
