Inequality Policy and Campaign Internship

Role Overview

This internship sits inside Oxfam International’s inequality campaigns team, where you will help turn research and policy analysis into public-facing campaign action. Day to day, you will support team coordination, track project work plans, and carry out desk research that feeds into advocacy and campaign materials focused on economic inequality, public services, development finance, and climate change. The role is designed as a learning placement: you and your line manager will build a joint plan so that your time here strengthens your project management, research, and influencing skills while contributing to real campaign work across the Oxfam confederation.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate internal teams by scheduling and facilitating regular calls, tracking follow-ups, and keeping outreach between colleagues on schedule.
• Help develop project work plans, breaking activities into clear steps and supporting the monitoring of progress against milestones.
• Conduct desktop research and analysis on inequality-related topics, summarising findings in formats that support policy papers, campaign briefs, and advocacy positions.
• Contribute to the production of campaign materials, including social media content, research summaries, and other public-facing products.
• Maintain organised records of project activities, timelines, and outputs to ensure transparency across the team.
• Support the wider campaigns team with ad hoc tasks that arise during fast-moving advocacy moments or campaign cycles.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in project management, including organizing tasks, managing timelines, and tracking multiple workstreams at once.
• Strong understanding of socio-economic issues at national and global levels, particularly economic inequality and its causes and consequences.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with strong writing and editing skills for both internal documents and external campaign content.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to liaise credibly and diplomatically with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the organization, at different levels of seniority.
• Self-awareness and emotional regulation, with the ability to manage your own behaviour and impulses in a professional environment.
• A genuine desire to build technical professional experience within the international NGO sector, and the flexibility to work simultaneously on a range of tasks.
• Ability to lead projects in a way that motivates colleagues and keeps deliverables moving forward.
