Role Overview
This attachment places final-year communication and journalism students directly into active newsrooms or digital media desks. On a daily basis, you will assist reporters and editors with story research, fact-checking, content drafting, and multimedia production, while also contributing to editorial planning meetings and social media workflows. - Draft short news articles, social media posts, and bulletin summaries under the supervision of senior editors.
- Assist with audio and video content production, including basic editing and captioning for digital platforms.
- Attend daily editorial briefings, take notes, and sometimes pitch story ideas based on current events or community beats.
- Conduct telephone or in-person interviews with sources, fact-check quotes, and prepare transcripts for reporters.
- Help maintain the newsroom’s content management system, ensuring tags, captions, and metadata are accurate.
- Monitor competitor coverage and social media trends, flagging potential developing stories to the assignment desk.
- Compile a weekly log of your own published or aired work for review by the attachment coordinator.
