Key Responsibilities

• Assist in researching, fact‑checking, and compiling information for news stories across print, broadcast, or online platforms.
• Contribute to the production of short news pieces, including writing drafts, editing copy, or creating simple multimedia elements under supervision.
• Support social media teams by curating content, monitoring trending topics, and drafting posts that align with editorial guidelines.
• Attend editorial conferences and take notes on story assignments, deadlines, and feedback to improve reporting skills.
• Help organise and archive audio, video, or photo files for future use by the production or digital team.
• Collect and compile audience engagement data or reader feedback to inform content strategy adjustments.
• Participate in field assignments (e.g., covering community events or press briefings) alongside a mentor to gain practical reporting experience.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Must be a final‑year student pursuing a degree or diploma in Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Communication, or Corporate Communication at a recognised university or college.
• A valid recommendation letter from the applicant’s institution, issued within the last two months and stating the specific period for which placement is required.
• Academic transcripts for the current academic year as proof of good standing.
• A valid Student Identification Card from the current institution.
• A valid MCK Student Press Card for the year 2026 (the employer issues this card as part of the programme, but applicants must already hold it at the time of application).
• A mandatory sample of journalistic work — this may include published online content, school projects, or any other portfolio that demonstrates basic reporting, writing, or multimedia ability.
