Role Overview
This role is the technology backbone of a multi-site e-commerce business, keeping networks, power, warehouse systems and security equipment working so that office teams and warehouse crews can operate without interruption. Day to day you will move between hands-on fault fixing, infrastructure upkeep and coordination with external service providers, while also guiding a small IT team through support queues and on-site escalations. Because the operation spans both office and warehouse environments — including fulfilment tools and online selling platforms — your work directly protects order flow, stock accuracy and site security.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain continuous power, network and internet availability across every site, managing LAN/WAN links, routers, switches, firewalls, UPS units and backup power arrangements, and liaising with internet service providers on outages and performance.
- Keep warehouse technology running — warehouse management systems, barcode scanners, label and document printers — and provide fast on-site troubleshooting, particularly during high-volume shifts where downtime is costly.
- Handle the full lifecycle of office and operational equipment: procurement support, setup, configuration, patching, repair, replacement and disposal of computers, printers, peripherals and network hardware.
- Operate and maintain CCTV infrastructure, verifying that recording, storage and retention are functioning correctly and retrieving footage to support investigations when requested.
- Administer user accounts and access rights, covering onboarding, departmental or role changes and offboarding, while enforcing password standards and controls that keep unauthorised users out of company systems.
- Run day-to-day IT support across office and warehouse locations, triaging incoming requests, coordinating the support team, and driving tickets to resolution within agreed SLA timelines.
- Supervise and mentor IT staff, allocating workloads and building their troubleshooting capability.
- Train employees on internal systems, e-commerce platforms and warehouse tools, and produce SOPs and user guides that increase adoption and cut repeat errors.
- Track uptime, incidents and recurring faults, and report on service performance so that infrastructure weaknesses are addressed rather than repeatedly patched.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years working in IT operations, infrastructure or technical support.
- Demonstrated experience supporting more than one physical location; previous exposure to warehouse or other operational floor environments is strongly preferred.
- Confident hands-on troubleshooting of both network and hardware faults, including configuration and management of routers, switches and firewalls.
- Working familiarity with power continuity equipment such as UPS systems and generators.
- Practical experience maintaining CCTV systems, including recording, storage and footage retrieval.
- Foundational knowledge of IT security practice and access control administration.
- Experience using or supporting warehouse management systems, scanners and industrial printers.
- Proven ability to supervise a small team, juggle competing priorities and deliver on commitments with limited supervision.
- Strong problem-solving instincts and clear communication with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Why Join This Role
You will gain genuine breadth rather than narrow specialisation: network infrastructure, warehouse systems, security hardware, identity management and team leadership all sit within one position. It suits someone who prefers being on the floor solving real problems over sitting in a single data centre, and who wants their work to visibly affect how a live e-commerce and logistics operation performs.
