Hydroblasting Technician

Role Overview

This role keeps high-pressure hydroblasting equipment running in demanding project environments, often far from the usual supply chain and support network. Day to day, you will run hydroblasting units to clean and prepare surfaces, then turn to the same machines to inspect, diagnose, repair, and rebuild them so work never stalls. Because downtime on a hydroblasting spread ripples straight into project schedules, your mechanical judgment and preventive habits are what keep the operation productive and safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Run high-pressure hydroblasting equipment to clean surfaces and prepare them for coating, inspection, or further work, following project specifications, approved procedures, and site safety rules.
• Carry out scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on pumps, hoses, fittings, and related components so the equipment stays reliable and ready for service.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pressure-related faults, then complete the repairs needed to return units to full operation.
• Fabricate or machine replacement components when original parts are unavailable or lead times would otherwise halt the job.
• Keep maintenance logs, repair histories, inspection checklists, and replacement-part records accurate and up to date.
• Complete manufacturer and industry training as required and keep all applicable certifications current.
• Spot early signs of wear or failure and act on them before they escalate into breakdowns, delays, or safety incidents.
• Work with minimal supervision while holding to consistent standards for safety, quality, and equipment performance, and take on other duties consistent with the level and nature of the position.

Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining high-pressure hydroblasting equipment or comparable heavy machinery.
• Formal training or certification in the operation and maintenance of hydroblasting equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude paired with practical troubleshooting and diagnostic ability.
• Competence in repairing and fabricating replacement parts, including skilled use of the hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment involved in hydroblasting maintenance.
• Solid working knowledge of the safety practices that govern high-pressure equipment operations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and sustain peak equipment performance without close oversight.
• Valid passport with at least one year of remaining validity at the time of hire, plus the ability to travel internationally.
• Eligibility to obtain country-specific visas in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and remain compliant for the full duration of deployment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials and authorization.
• English reading, speaking, and comprehension sufficient to fulfill contract obligations and follow installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS location alongside a multi-national workforce.
• A valid driver's license — including a valid country license — permitting legal operation of a motor vehicle.
• Certification in machining or mechanical repair.
• Background supporting hydroblasting operations on industrial or government projects.
