Role Overview
This role sits at the center of CorpsAfrica’s people operations, combining hands-on payroll management with the analytical discipline needed to keep HR data accurate, secure, and decision-ready. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will own the full payroll cycle across multiple African country offices, maintain the integrity of employee records in our HRIS, and translate workforce data into insights that guide leadership on retention, hiring, and engagement. Your work directly supports a lean, mission-driven team dedicated to youth-led community development, so operational precision and discretion are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Run full-cycle payroll for staff across several countries, calculating salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions in line with local statutory requirements and organizational policy.
- Review timesheets, leave balances, overtime, and payroll documentation on a monthly basis, flagging discrepancies and resolving them with country teams before processing.
- Work alongside Finance and Accounting to reconcile payroll transactions, investigate variances, and respond to staff payroll questions with clarity and timeliness.
- Own the integrity of the HRIS by auditing employee digital files, cleaning stale data, and enforcing strict confidentiality and access controls.
- Measure and report on People & Culture metrics such as turnover, retention, diversity, recruitment yield, and engagement, producing recurring dashboards and one-off analyses for leadership.
- Lead or support HRIS and payroll system improvements—configuring modules, testing updates, documenting workflows, and training staff on self-service tools.
- Provide practical guidance on employee performance management (EPR) to country staff and supervisors, ensuring reviews are consistent and aligned with organizational standards.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding by setting up user accounts, entering new-hire data, managing deactivations, and coordinating payroll changes with workflow owners.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; a master’s degree or HR certification is a plus.
- At least 3–5 years of progressive experience in HR data management, payroll processing, and HRIS administration, ideally in an international or multi-country nonprofit setting.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, paired with hands-on experience using HRIS or payroll platforms such as ADP, Workday, BambooHR, or similar systems.
- Ability to interpret quantitative data, identify patterns, and turn raw numbers into clear, concise reports for non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid working knowledge of payroll practices, statutory withholdings, and labor compliance across multiple operating regions, with the flexibility to adapt to local rules.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving orientation, and the discretion required to handle sensitive employee information.
- Fluency in English is required; working proficiency in French is strongly preferred.
- A demonstrated commitment to youth leadership, participatory community development, transparency, and operational excellence.
