Role Overview
You will act as the on-site HR anchor for a flower farm operation, supporting the full employee lifecycle from hiring to exit while keeping daily people operations aligned with farm production rhythms. Your focus is on building a fair, audit-ready workplace—making sure every worker file, disciplinary step, and welfare matter is handled correctly and in line with Fairtrade and KFC supplier standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for seasonal and permanent farm roles, from shortlisting to contract issuance, ensuring staffing levels match crop cycles.
- Facilitate structured onboarding and orientation for new hires, covering farm safety, company policies, and worker rights under Kenyan labour law.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR filing systems so that documentation is always ready for internal and external audits.
- Support the management of grievances, disciplinary hearings, and dispute resolution with clear documentation and consistent application of policy.
- Prepare HR evidence and reports for Fairtrade and KFC audit visits, identifying compliance gaps and following up on corrective actions.
- Coordinate staff training sessions on workplace conduct, health and safety, and Fairtrade awareness, tracking attendance and completion.
- Advise supervisors and farm management on HR best practices, including leave administration, performance management, and employee welfare.
- Liaise with workers and union or committee representatives to promote open communication and a positive industrial relations climate.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a directly related discipline.
- 2–3 years of hands-on HR generalist experience, ideally within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience in agriculture, horticulture, or a flower farm setting is a clear advantage, as you will already understand seasonal labour demands and field realities.
- Working knowledge of Fairtrade or KFC audit requirements, including how to prepare wage documentation, time records, and health and safety evidence.
- Active membership with IHRM Kenya is required.
- Professional fluency in both English and Swahili, with the confidence to communicate with staff at all levels across the farm.
