Job Description

Role Overview

This position is a hands-on human resources generalist role, responsible for the day-to-day execution of HR operations across the full employee lifecycle. You will be the first point of contact for staff queries, supporting everything from hiring and onboarding to performance and compliance, ensuring the organisation runs smoothly and stays aligned with Kenyan employment legislation. Your work directly shapes a positive workplace culture and protects the company from avoidable legal and administrative risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including drafting job advertisements, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and issuing offer letters.
  • Deliver a structured onboarding experience for new hires, covering orientation, documentation, and introduction to company policies, while also handling exit formalities for departing staff.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution, in line with company policy and Kenyan labour law.
  • Support the performance management cycle by guiding managers on goal setting, appraisals, and improvement plans, and maintaining accurate performance records.
  • Identify training and development needs, coordinate internal or external training sessions, and track staff development progress against the company's objectives.
  • Maintain complete and confidential HR records, including contracts, leave balances, medical information, and statutory documents, ensuring data accuracy at all times.
  • Monitor compliance with the Employment Act and other Kenyan regulations, updating HR policies and procedures as laws evolve and communicating changes to employees.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working in an HR generalist or administration role, with hands-on exposure to recruiting, employee relations, and record keeping.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Kenyan labour laws, statutory deductions, and employment compliance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues discreetly and professionally.
  • Effective organisational and administrative abilities, including the capacity to prioritise competing demands and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, for drafting documents, maintaining spreadsheets, and managing correspondence.
