Job Description

Role Overview

This position supports the people and corporate affairs functions of a conservancy-based hospitality operation, bridging day-to-day HR administration with community and stakeholder relations. You will keep employee and corporate records accurate and compliant, help run recruitment and welfare processes, and coordinate outreach efforts that connect the organisation with local landowners and authorities. The role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys variety, fieldwork, and working in a setting where administrative rigour supports both staff wellbeing and community trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date employee files, HR databases, attendance logs, and leave balances, ensuring data is accurate and recoverable.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, induction, training coordination, performance reviews, and employee engagement initiatives from start to finish.
  • Monitor statutory compliance obligations including SHIF/NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, and other labour law requirements, preparing submissions and follow-ups as needed.
  • Provide structured support to managers on disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and conflict resolution while documenting every step.
  • Organise and safeguard corporate documentation such as contracts, licences, permits, leases, insurance policies, and board-related records, tracking renewals and deadlines.
  • Act as a liaison between the organisation and regulators, county government offices, legal advisers, community leaders, and conservancy partners.
  • Plan and implement corporate social responsibility initiatives, sponsorships, bursary programmes, and community outreach events, including record keeping and reporting.
  • Manage conservancy lease records, landowner registers, land agreements, and related documentation with confidentiality and precision.
  • Prepare HR and corporate affairs reports and provide administrative backup to field operations whenever needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Higher Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience in HR, administration, compliance, CSR, or a similar role within hospitality, tours and travel, camps, or lodges.
  • Solid understanding of Kenyan labour laws and statutory HR requirements, including SHIF/NHIF, NSSF, and PAYE processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience working with HR information systems or databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community leaders, local authorities, or conservancy stakeholders; prior experience in such settings is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to interact with diverse groups.
  • Flexibility to travel to field locations and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
