Role Overview
This position places you in charge of a premier hotel in Mogadishu, where you will oversee every operational and commercial function. Day to day, you will move between strategic planning and floor-level supervision, ensuring front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering, security, finance, and human resources work as one cohesive unit. Your leadership directly determines the property's reputation, safety, and profitability in a demanding and fast-growing market, making this role essential to the establishment's long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations across all hotel departments, aligning guest reception, culinary service, housekeeping, and facilities maintenance to deliver a seamless stay experience.
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets, tracking revenue, occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and gross operating profit to sustain strong financial performance.
- Establish and enforce standard operating procedures, service quality standards, and facility upkeep schedules that meet international executive hospitality benchmarks.
- Drive commercial growth by collaborating with sales and marketing on pricing, corporate packages, and campaigns targeting corporate clients, diplomatic missions, NGOs, and travel partners.
- Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including property owners, government bodies, and institutional clients, to expand the hotel's presence in the region.
- Implement and test security, emergency response, hygiene, and food safety protocols, ensuring full compliance with local regulations and international standards.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate department heads, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and professional development to build a high-performing multicultural team.
- Prepare weekly operational summaries and monthly financial reports for the executive board and property owners, highlighting performance and recommended actions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related commercial discipline; a master's degree or professional hospitality certification is advantageous.
- At least ten years of progressive experience in hotel operations, with a minimum of five years as a senior manager or general manager in a 4-star or higher establishment.
- Strong command of hotel financial statements, yield management, budgeting, and key performance metrics such as ADR, RevPAR, and GOP.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in multicultural, international, or complex environments, with sound judgment and crisis management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to engage diplomatic guests, high-level corporate clients, and diverse staff.
